Laura Gilliand is an accomplished author, playwright, teacher, and performer whose work bridges the gap between heartfelt storytelling and captivating drama. With a voice rooted in empathy and a love for connection, she creates stories that reach readers and audiences of all ages—whether in the classroom or on the stage.
A lifelong educator and literacy advocate, Laura drew inspiration for her debut chapter book, Super Signers, while living abroad as a dedicated military spouse. Set in a fourth-grade classroom, Super Signers explores friendship, courage, and the power of communication—especially when words fail. It’s quickly becoming a favorite among teachers, families, and young readers for its warmth, inclusivity, and classroom-ready themes.
Laura also brings her voice to the world of theatre. Her original stage play, Murderous Melodies: A Karaoke Kill, is a dark comedy murder mystery full of small-town secrets, rivalries, and unexpected twists. Designed for adult performers and community productions, the play highlights Laura’s flair for dramatic structure, humor, and ensemble-driven storytelling.
When she’s not writing or performing, Laura teaches full-time and loves spending time with her family. She’s a proud mother of four exceptionally bright children, a passionate supporter of arts in education, and a firm believer in the transformative power of story. Now living in Georgia, Laura continues to balance her creative work with classroom leadership—and a healthy dose of adventure, whether through books or travel.
